John Edmondson McCluer was the eldest known son of Arthur McCluer (died 1855) and Agnes Nancy Edmondson. He graduated from (now) Washington & Lee University and was a medical doctor and surgeon. On 3 Sep 1823, John Ewing performed the marriage to Martha Hanna Parry in Rockbridge Co., VA. Some say he "served as a surgeon in the CSA" but due to his age it's unusual.
