Minnie Elizabeth Mount, daughter of Charles and Agnes Mount, was born in Lincoln Township, Adair County, Iowa, on November 24, 1877, and departed this life March 29, 1944.

She was the oldest child in a family of five children. Those surviving her are: Mrs. Idah McPherson, of Dexter, Iowa; Mrs. Ethel Van Duzer, of Menlo, Iowa; and Edgar Mount, of Stuart, Iowa.

On December 8, 1904, she was united in marriage to Charles H. Dennis, of Dexter, Iowa. This union was blessed with three children, two sons, Howard and Floyd, and one daughter, Dorothy.

Mr. and Mrs. Dennis lived on their farm in Madison County for many years. On February 3, 1942, they moved to Boone, Iowa, where they resided until the death of Mr. Dennis May 16, 1943. Following this, Mrs. Dennis visited several weeks in each of the homes of her two sons, and her sister, Mrs. Ethel Van Duzer. Later she spent the winter with her sister, Mrs. Idah McPherson.

Mrs. Dennis was converted, confessed her faith in Christ and joined the Methodist Church at Mount Vernon at an early age. For many years she was organist for the Sunday School and church. Later she transferred her membership to the Dexter Methodist Church where she joined with her three children.

Mrs. Dennis had been in failing health for more than a year and during the last few weeks her suffering was intense, yet she faced it bravely, always putting her faith in the Master. For some time she expected death and looked forward without fear and in blessed hope of the life to come.

She was a true and faithful wife, a kind and loving mother, always wanting her children and grandchildren around her. No sacrifice was too great for her to make for her family. Mrs. Dennis loved her home and put forth every effort to make it enjoyable. She was a lover of music and derived much pleasure from the playing and singing of church hymns. She enjoyed the beauties of nature and gained much satisfaction from her flowers.

She leaves to mourn her departure three children: Howard R. Dennis, of Dexter, Iowa; Floyd M. Dennis, of Boone, Iowa; and Dorothy A. McCulley, of Chadron, Nebraska. Two sisters: Mrs. Idah McPherson, of Dexter, Iowa and Mrs. Ethel Van Duzer, of Menlo; one brother, Edgar Mount, of Stuart; five grandchildren: Jerene Dennis, Karen Kay and Roger Floyd Dennis, Carolyn Susan and Dennis David McCulley.

Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Neal Clemmer, pastor of the First Methodist church of Dexter, assisted by the Rev. C. R. McPherson, nephew of the deceased, pastor of the Methodist church of St. Charles, Virginia, at two p.m. Saturday, April 1st. Interment was in the Stuart cemetery.
