Mrs. Maitland Tanner Rawlings, 99, of Sandersville died Monday, Aug. 19. Graveside services were held Wednesday, Aug. 21 at Sandersville City Cemetery with Rev. Mike McAfee and Rev. Burns Willis officiating.
A native of Washington County, she was born Nov. 15, 1885, the daughter of Dennard C. and Leslie Ann Smith Tanner. She was a homemaker and a member of Sandersville United Methodist Church. She was married to the late Arthur A. Rawlings.
Mrs. Rawlings was a charter member of the Transylvania Club of Sandersville, the Gov. Jared Irwin Chapter of the DAR and the James Hardwick Chapter of the Daughters of the American Colonists.
Survivors include a great nephew, George Garbutt of Sandersville; great niece, Virginia Sheppard of Oconee; a niece Carolyn Hendrix of Chesterfield, S.C.; a nephew, Emory Orahood of Atlanta; three great nieces, Gresdna Dotty of Baton Rouge, La., Margaret Robsin of Palm Beach, Fla. and Leslie Boone of Florida; two great nephews, James Dotty of West Palm Beach, Fla. and William Dotty of San Antonio, Tx.
Mayo-Lord Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
