Born Oct. 13, 1930 in Galion, he was the son of the late Calvin Boyd Blackford and Myrtle Marie (Shook) Blackford. He married Janet L. (Sickmiller) Blackford on Mar. 13, 1954 who survives.
Bob was a U.S. Air Force veteran having served during the Korean Conflict. He retired from Flick Lumber Company. Prior to that, he was Stockroom Manager and was in charge of Shipping and Receiving for G. C. Murphy, Big N Department Store and Ames in Galion. Bob was also a Galion police officer in the 1950's.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Sharon S. and Gail Baldinger of Galion; one son, Robert L. Blackford of Galion; four grandchildren, Tyler Blackford, Karrie Blackford, Eric (Allison) Baldinger and Steven (Betty) Baldinger and two great-grandchildren, Joseph and Delany Baldinger.He was preceded in death by one grandson, Dominic Blackford; three brothers, William Calvin Blackford, Harold J. Blackford and Clarence Blackford and three sisters, Ellen Hoffman, Margaret Finney and Ruth Mundey.
Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 12, 2010 at Richardson-Davis Funeral Home where services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Aug. 13, 2010 with Rev. Joe Stafford officiating. Interment will be in Fairview Cemetery.Military funeral honors will be conducted during the funeral services at Richardson-Davis Funeral Home by the United States Air Force and the Galion/Crestline veteran's organizations
