Carolyn Dickson, 73, Kansas City, MO, died Monday, September 6, 1999, at North Kansas City Hospital. A memorial service will be 3 p.m. Saturday, September 18, at Avondale United Methodist Church, 3101 N.E. Winn Rd., Kansas City, MO. Memorial contributions may be made to Avondale United Methodist Church, First United Methodist Church of Milan, MO, Missouri PEO Outreach Fund, or a charity of the donor's choice.Carolyn was born February 8, 1926, in Milan, MO, to Charles S. Dickson and Gretchen Payne Dickson. She graduated from Milan High School and went on to receive a B.S. in business administration from the University of Missouri-Columbia in 1948. She received a B.S. in pharmacy from the University of Missouri-Kansas City, in 1959. Miss Dickson practiced as a registered pharmacist in Missouri and Kansas, including at Dickson Pharmacy, Kansas City, MO, for many years, until she retired in 1991. Sheserved as president or the Greater Kansas City Chapter of the American Pharmaceutical Association in 1974 and the Missouri Pharmaceutical Association in 1975. In 1977, Carolyn served as president of the Missouri State Board of Pharmacy. Carolyn was a 54-year member of the PEO Sisterhood (Chapters X, IV, and IJ).She served as president of the University of Missouri-Columbia College Group and as president of Chapters X and IV. She served on the MO State PEO Executive Board for seven years, including a term as the MO State PEO president in 1974. At the time of her death, Carolyn was serving as president of the Northland Assistance Center. Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents and brother, C. Stuart Dickson.Survivors include her sister-in-law, Zola Dickson, Kansas City, MO; nieces, Janet Dickson-Gorham and her husband, Jack Gorham, rural Richmond, MO, Karen Dickson-Massey and her husband, John Massey, Gladstone, MO, and Ann Discher and her husband, Alan, Kansas City, MO; and many cousins.
