Cecelia Thomas, of Yazoo City, Mississippi, passed away peacefully on May 3, 2013. She was 86 years of age.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. James T. Thomas, and her brother, Franklin Lewis.

At the time of her death, Cecelia resided at The Blake in Ridgeland, Mississippi.

Cecelia was born in Satartia, Mississippi on August 9, 1926. She attended the University of Mississippi where she was a member of the Phi Mu Sorority. She was a long time member of the First United Methodist Church of Yazoo City, Mississippi. Cecelia was also a member of the Yazoo City Country Club.

Cecelia and Dr. Thomas had a passion for flying and enjoyed flying their Mooney airplane throughout the Southeast. Cecelia was so devoted to flying that she took lessons and soloed in their plane. Cecelia was also an accomplished artist and enjoyed painting landscapes in her pastime.

Cecelia is survived by her sister, Julia Lewis Rowan, her niece, Diane Rowan Drake and her nephew, Dr. Randal K. Rowan, all of Atlanta, Georgia. She will be missed by her family and friends.

Visitation will 10:00 - 11:00 A.M. Tuesday May 7, 2013 at Stricklin-King Funeral Home, with graveside services at 11:00 A.M. in Glenwood Cemetery.
