The father was a soldier of the war of 1812. The mother died in 1866, age 66. The father died in 1871 while visiting his son-in-law, Dr. William A. Babcock, in Illinois. Mrs. Brown received her education at the Suffield Literary Institute, at Suffield, Conn.
