Elaine Stimson Warren, of Scarborough, died on March 24, 2009, after a two year battle with breast cancer. She was born on Aug. 16, 1924, in Princeton, Mass., where she grew up on the dairy farm that her family has owned and operated for over 250 years. She attended elementary school in Princeton and graduated from Leominster High School in 1942. She attended and graduated from Bates College, Lewiston in 1946, where she met her husband of 60 years, C. Harvey Warren. Upon her graduation from Bates, she worked as a program director for the Girls Club of Worcester, Mass. A resident of Scarborough since 1950, Elaine was a substitute school teacher in the Scarborough School System, a Little League Parent Booster, Girls Scout Troop Leader, Sunday School Teacher, piano player and member of the Women's Fellowship at the Black Point Congregational Church and doting grandmother. She was an early member of the Scarborough Land Conservation Trust serving as a trustee and director over the years, and a member of the Scarborough Democratic Committee for many years. Elaine is survived by her husband, C. Harvey Warren of Scarborough; her four children, Becky (George Seel) of Belgrade, Andy Warren of Hollis, Cindy Warren (Greg Winter) of Concord, Mass., and Dan Warren (Pam Joy) of Scarborough; six grandchildren, Matt Seel and Ben Seel of Belgrade, Jacqueline Winter of Concord, Mass., Madelyn Warren, Sophie Warren and Sam Warren of Scarborough; her brother, Charles Stimson (Joan) of Princeton, Mass.; sister-in-law, Patty Prange (Dave) of Vero Beach, Fla.; along with an uncle Richard Stimson of Wellsville, N.Y.; and many loving cousins; nieces, nephews and grandnieces and grandnephews. Services will be held at the Black Point Congregational Church, 161 Black Point Rd., Scarborough, on Saturday, March 28, 2009, at 11 a.m. Arrangements are by Hobbs Funeral Home, 671 U.S. Rt. 1, Scarborough. The family would like to thank the staff of the Maine Center for Cancer Medicine in Scarborough, for their caring and compassion, with particular thanks to Dr. Tracey Weisberg, Dixie Knoll, Dawn Whitten and the entire staff in the treatment room for their gentle approach and support. The family would also like to thank the staff at Pine Point Nursing Care Center in Scarborough for the compassionate care that they provided to Elaine during her final days.
