Surrounded by family and friends, Tyler James Henderson passed into the heavenly arms of Great Spirit on January 23rd, 2013 at St. Luke's Meridian Hospital.
Tyler was born to Donald and Sally Henderson in Bakersfield, CA on November 5th, 1970. The Henderson family moved to Boise, Idaho in 1972. His youth was filled with sports, camping, fishing, hunting and riding his motorcycle in the Idaho outdoors.
In between childhood adventures, Tyler's house was often filled with his best friends hoping to grab one of his favorite chocolate oatmeal cookies, made fresh by Sally.
The family moved to Bellingham, WA where he attended Western Washington University and met the love of his life, Marni. Many lifelong friends were made in Bellingham, including a dear relationship with his niece, Kailey. He rowed for the Crew team, fished in the ocean and jet skied on Lake Samish in between college classes.
After graduation, he proposed to Marni and they moved to Spokane, WA to attend Gonzaga University Law School. Married in 1997, they added more lifelong friends in law school and spent any spare time traveling to visit family back home.
With a law degree in hand and the announcement of his first son, Tyson, he accepted a position at Lane Powell, in Seattle, WA. His devotion was to his family, always. When his second son Trevin was born, he wanted nothing more than to move back to Boise, ID to able to share the beautiful outdoors with his adoring family.
In June 2005 he moved back to Idaho with a position at Moffatt Thomas.
Tyler was a man with an amazing sense of humor and a heart bigger than life. He loved watching BSU, WA Huskies and St. Louis Rams football with his dad and sons. Being called "Coach T" by his football players rang true to his heart.
In 2005 he started volunteer coaching with MPAL and later served on the board. He coached many of the same kids from MPAL flag football until their completion of the Optimist Football program. The players and their parents became family as they surrounded Coach T with such caring love and kindness.
He had such a profound effect on everyone who knew him. He taught the boys respect, dignity and good sportsmanship. He lived by being the best possible example for his sons and "respect" was Tyler's operative word.
He is survived by his only love of 22 years, Marni; his two wonderful young sons, Tyson (12) and Trevin (8); his parents, Don and Sally Henderson; his brother, Trent (Lucy and son Jaxon); grandmother, Constance Maki; and many other loved and cherished cousins, nieces, nephews and in-laws.
Our heartfelt thank you to Dr. Ben Bridges with whom Tyler shared many good laughs, the entire MSTI and Integrative Medicine staff and Eliah Stetson Brown who provided the family with spiritual love, guidance and solace during Tyler's journey with cancer. He is a true Warrior.
Services will be held on February 9th at 1:00 p.m. at the Cathedral of the Rockies, 717 N. 11th St, Boise.
