Georgia LaVoy Stewart Jordan died January 15, 2007, in Abilene.
Services were held at Johnson Street Church of Christ in San Angelo with Tommy King officiating. Georgia was born on a small farm near Lamesa, Texas on April 5, 1919, to Eli and Minnie Stewart. She moved to San Angelo at age 18 and entered nursing school at Shannon Memorial Hospital School of Nursing where she graduated with honors and earned special certification as a surgeon's assistant. She did postgraduate work at Cook County Hospital in Chicago, Illinois. On June 1, 1942, Georgia married James Homer Jordan, a native of San Angelo and they made San Angelo their home. He preceded her in death in 1977.
Georgia worked for the Texas Heart Association for many years and in 1967 began teaching Vocational Healrth at San Angelo Co=entral High School. She was instrumental in preparing young people to work in the midical field and has maintained contact with many pof ther students. Upon retirement from San Angelo ISD, Georgia enrolled in St Joseph's College in Maine and earned a bachelor degree in Nursing Home Administration.
Georgia is preceded in death by her husband, Homer; her parents, Eli and Minnie Stewart; a brother, Preston Wheeler; and 2 sisters, Viola Caldwell and Edna Peterson.
She is survived by a son, James and wife Deanna of Odessa;a daughter, Jo Ann Campbell anbd husband Adrian from Abilene; and a daughter, Judy Casey and husband Michael of Malibu,California. Georgia has 5 grandchildren,and 4 great grandchildren.
