She is survived by one daughter, Lois Rivenbark of Wallace, three grandchildren, Peggy Ann Sikes and George W. Rivenbark, Jr., both of Wallace and Dianne R. Smith of Wilmington, eight great grandchildren, Donald Croom, Jr., Guy Williams Croom, Jennifer Bradshaw, Dewayne Foy, Gregory Foy, Patrick Rivenbark, Ashford Smith and Heather Rivenbark, three great great grandchildren, David Foy, Logan Croom and Garrett Croom.
Born in Pender County, Mrs. Benton was the daughter of the late Thomas and Rosetta Piner Padgett and was a member of Wells Chapel Baptist Church. She loved cooking and taking care of her family. She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, George W. Benton, one daughter, Virginia Byrd and two grandsons, Benny Ray Foy and Gary Foy.
