Mrs. Ruby Brown Wright, age 97 of Vernon, AL, passed away Saturday, August 13, 2016, at Generations of Vernon.

Mrs. Wright was born January 7, 1919, in Steens, MS, to the late William Jasper and Violet Jane Hollis Brown. She was a supervisor at the garment plant for a number of years then went on to work with the Lamar Co. Nursing Home then the Mary Wallace Cobb Memorial Library. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Wright was preceded in death by her husband, James Haley Wright; two brothers, Elton and Rushton Brown; and five sisters, Thelma Hedrick, Margie Hall, Dessie V. Bobo, Myrtle Watson, and Annie Grace Price.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, August 16, at Springfield Free Will Baptist Church with Randy Tolleson, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow at Furnace Hill. Visitation will be Tuesday 12-2 prior to the service.

Pallbearers will be Frank Westbrook, Ricky McGee, James Brown, Jim Wright, Dale McGee, and Carroll Gibson.

Mrs. Wright is survived by one daughter, Patricia (Donnie) Morrow of Tuscaloosa, AL; one grandson, Mike (Donna) Morrow of Tuscaloosa, AL; one great-granddaughter, Cortnie (Caleb) Draper of Helena, AL; two great-great-granddaughters, Annabelle and Penelope Draper of Helena, AL; one sister, Mary Joyce (John Robert) McGee of Vernon, AL; one sister-in-law, Doris (Rollie) Frye of Sulligent, AL; and a host of nieces and nephews.
