She is survived by her husband, Stephen Barber of Jacksonville; her mother, Claire Barton, of Ponte Vedra Beach; her children, Christine Barber (Chad) Rogers, Charles (Vilma) Barber; and her grandchildren, Natalie, Joshua, Emily, Olivia, and Sofia. She is preceded in death by her father, Col. Charles J. Rosenblatt and her grandson, Sean.
Carol graduated high school from Howie Academy, received her bachelor's degree from Georgia State University, and earned her Master of Education from the University of North Florida.
She had a passion for education and learning, teaching special and elementary education in Duval County for over 30 years, where she was admired as a first-class educator willing and able to tackle the most challenging assignments. Her greatest passion, however, was for her family; she was a truly dedicated wife and mother.
Carol will also be remembered for her love of animals, rescuing many strays in her lifetime.
There will be a reception for her family and friends on Monday, May 6, from 6-8 PM in Hardage-Giddens Funeral home of Mandarin. Graveside services will be held at 3:00 PM on Tuesday, May 7, at Oaklawn Cemetery, 4801 San Jose Blvd, Jacksonville, FL.
Gifts in her memory may be made to Community Hospice of NE Florida or the Jacksonville Humane Society.
