Susie was born on Jan. 29, 1946, in Philadelphia, Pa., the daughter of Arthur and Ida Swartley.

She grew up in Chalfont, Pa., and graduated from Central Bucks High School in Doylestown, Pa., in 1963. She earned a bachelor of science in education from Millersville State College in Pennsylvania in 1967. Twenty years later in 1987, she earned her master of science in education degree from Nazareth College in Rochester.

On July 27, 1968, she married Allen L. Presby in Chalfont, Pa., with whom she enjoyed 33 years in a loving, supportive relationship. They lived together and raised their family in Victor, where her husband served for 17 years as pastor of First Presbyterian Church. Susie was active in the life and ministry of the church, singing in the choir, teaching Sunday school and serving on the board of deacons.

Susie taught in the secondary school system of the Diocese of Rochester, first at Our Lady of Lourdes and later at Siena Catholic Academy. She was a dedicated, conscientious teacher whose work was valued by her colleagues and students.

Susie enjoyed reading, quilting, bird-watching, flower gardening and walks with her friends. She and her husband were avid tent campers, hikers and back packers.

Surviving is her husband, the Rev. Allen L. Presby of Unadilla; a daughter, Aimee DeYoung with her husband, Mark, and grandson, Gabriel, of Decatur, Ill.; and a son, David Presby of Fairport; her mother, Ida Swartley, of Chalfont, Pa.; two brothers, Robert Swartley and his wife, Judy, of Malvern, Pa., and William Swartley and his wife, Kay, of Apex, N.C.; and a sister, Bonnie Martin and her husband, Bill, of Pittsford.
