Catherine Cox Nicholson, 84, loving wife, mother and Mimi died in Houston on Thursday, May 2, 2013. Cathy was a member of St. Christopher Episcopal Church for 53 years where she volunteered weekly at her church's Hospice Thrift Shop.
Cathy was predeceased by her parents Carrie Cason Cox and Mordacai Boyd Cox of Georgia and husband Jimmy Nicholson of Amarillo, Texas and her son William Charles, as well her brothers George, Herbert and Jesse and sister Rosezena Lee.
She is survived by her son Jim Nicholson and wife Kristi, and grandchildren Dustin and wife Brandi, Parker and wife Hailey, Whitney, Jenna, Natalie and two great grandchildren Ella and Thomas. She is also survived by her sister Lillian Braeswell and brother Charles Cox, along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Cathy dearly loved her family and was the doting hostess when they visited her. You could always find her helping others. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends. A service celebrating her life will be held at St. Christopher Episcopal Church on Wednesday, May 8, 2013 at 11:00 AM with reception and burial following.
The family will receive guests at Memorial Oaks Funeral Home from 6:00 to 8:00 PM on Tuesday, May 7, 2013.
In lieu of flowers the family request that donations be made to St. Christopher's Building Fund, 1650 Blalock, Houston, Texas 77080 in honor of Catherine Nicholson.
