David was ordained a Deacon in the United Methodist Church in 1961 and an Elder in 1975. During his more than fifty years of work in the Church, David served in numerous congregations including; Associate Pastor of Grace United Methodist Church in Houston (1968-1972), Pastor of the First United Methodist Church in Kountze (1972-1976), Pastor of the Kelty's and Redland United Methodist Churches in Lufkin (1976-1979), Pastor of the Lakeview United Methodist Church in Port Arthur (1979-1985), Pastor of the Roberts Avenue United Methodist Church in Beaumont (1985-1988), and Associate Pastor of the First United Methodist Church in Houston (1988-2004).
