"In connection with the fatal drowning accident on the New Golden River dredge, below Alexandra, on Friday night, the secretary has received a wire from the engineer (R. Duff) stating that he and Alexander MacGregor, one of the dredge hands, were at the forward end of the dredge, when the handrail broke, and they both fell overboard. The engineer was washed ashore, but MacGregor was drowned. The body has not yet been recovered."
