James Neal b. 13 Apr 1843 Salford, ENG
Matilda Neal b. 4 Feb 1845 Salford, ENG

He appears on the 1841 census in Salford, Lancashire, England living at Barretts Court with wife and children.

He was alive at the time of his wife's death in 1846 and residing at 4 Smiths Building in Salford.

The 1851 census is badly damaged. There is a possible entry for him on Foundry Street, a widowed John Nail living with several of his children, some Irish born and some born in Salford. The image is listed in District 1e, page 18 & 19. The only problem I have with this is it lists the birthplace for this John as Chatham, Kent, England on this census, which conflicts other information. In 1852 dau Mary Ann Neal lists the address as 23 Deal street. On the 1851 census there is a large family living at 23 Deal street but it is completely illegible. This may also be the Neals.
