Mrs. Millikan was born in Rochester, NY. She was educated in the public schools of Rochester, NY and Oberlin College, Oberlin, Ohio and graduated in 1857. She was married on Sept. 13, 1864 in Rochester. Rev. Mr. and Mrs. Millikan were alumni of the same college, as well as their six children. After her graduation she taught for two years and then went to Olivet, Michigan, where she was lady principal of Olivet College.
On Sept. 12, 1914, Rev. Mr. and Mrs. Millikan celebrated their golden wedding anniversary at the home of their son, Allan F. Millikan, at River Forest, Ill. Rev. Mr. Millikan died suddenly of heart disease, Apr 13, 1915, at Rochester, NY.
At the time of her death she was survived by Allan F. Millikan, son, of River Forest, Il.; Dr. Robert A. Millikan, son, of Chicago, professor of physics in University of Chicago; Max Millikan, son, an attorney in New York City;
Mrs. Grace M. Behr, daughter, teacher of German in the North side high school, Des Moines; Mrs. Johnson, daughter, wife of Dr. Johnson of Marshalltown, IA; Mrs. Robert E. Brown, daughter, wife of the pastor of the First Congregational Church of Waterbury, Conn.
