Frederick Charles Montgomery, Sr. LOUISVILLE, KY —

Frederick Charles Montgomery, Sr., 63, passed away suddenly on Saturday, April 27, 2013.
Frederick was born October 23, 1949, in Clarksdale Mississippi to the union of William S. Montgomery, Sr. and Edna M. Eason. He was baptized at an early age at Second Baptist Church in Lorain, Ohio where he was a longstanding member and participant in various church choirs.
He attended Lorain City Schools and was a 1968 graduate of Lorain Admiral King, where he was a star athlete. In basketball he was a co-captain; he played halfback in football and was named to "The Plain Dealer Dream Team." In track & field he helped break "King's Stadium" record in the 880 relay in 1967. Fred was also a 4 year K-Club Varsity Letterman and attended Lorain County Community College as a History major, 1968-71.
On October 23, 1972, Fred was united in marriage to Malarie Ann King of Lorain, and to that union six children were born. In 1967, he began working for the U.S. Postal Service. Several years later, he was employed by U.S. Steel and finally, the Ford Motor Co. Fred relocated to Louisville, KY, after working almost 27 years at the Lorain Ford Plant. He retired with 35 years of service from the Ford Truck Plant of Louisville, KY, on July 6, 2006. He was very compassionate about church and family and also had an avid interest in books, classic movies and an extensive array of music.
Fred was preceded in death by his parents: William S. Montgomery, Sr. and Edna M. Montgomery; sisters, Estella Jenkins and Louise Randleman; and brothers, Louis Montgomery and William S. Montgomery, Jr.
He will be greatly missed by his loving and devoted wife of over 40 years, Malarie A. Montgomery; his six children: Frederick C. Montgomery, Jr., Malana M. (Montgomery) Washington, Mara A. Montgomery, Farris D. Montgomery, Marcee L. (Montgomery) Smith, and Meagan D. Montgomery; his 13 grandchildren, Kejanay Cash, Frederick C. Montgomery III, Ishmael Peterson, Domonique Montgomery, Noah Collings, Desean Allen-Eikens, Starlah Knotts, Zeadah Knotts, Brandon Montgomery, Delton Nealy, Jr., Isaac Montgomery, Makari Nealy and Josiah Montgomery; siblings, Rev. Douglas Montgomery, Mazaline Stubbs, Eva M. Harris, and Priscilla Montgomery; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
The funeral is 11:00 a.m., Saturday, May 4, 2013, at Beargass Baptist Church, 2300 Payne St, Louisville, KY, with interment in Pee Wee Valley East Cemetery. Visitation is 6-8 p.m. Friday at the church.
