Hans Louis Rasmussen was
born November 20, 1884, the
son of Peter and Hannah Rasmussen.
He grew up on the
family farm near Newell, and
was given spiritual guidance
by his Godly parents. When
Hans was 16, his father passed
away and Hans became the
head of the houshold which
now numbered four brothers
and three sisters.
In 1916 Hans married Mary
Anderson in the Newell
church. Three children were
blessed to this marriage —
Howard, Ruth and Robert.
Howard joined his Lord early
in life in 1936. One year later
in 1938 God called Mary,
his wife, to her rest and reward.
During World War II, Hans
left Iowa and traveled west
to work on defense jobs. He
was a contractor and felt it
his duty to aid his country in
this manner. When the war
was nearing its close Hans
decided to stay in Ogden,
Utah, because he enjoyed it
so much here and was very
much attached to the First
Baptist church. There was
another attachment, too. On
August 4, 1945 Hans married
Margaret L. Myers at the Ogden
church.
The years that followed
were full and happy ones for
the Rasumssen family. The
work of the Lord Jesus Christ
was given first place and the
blessings of God were plentiful.
Hans at one time was Sunday
school Superintendent, Teacher
and Vice President of the
Utah Mens Brotherhood.
In 1954 Hans suffered a
slight heart attack and retired
from work. His remaining
years were active and
happy, His zest for life made
each day an adventure.
At 5:05 on January 22nd,
1957, Hans left his loved ones
for a while to join his Savior
Jesus Christ.
