FRANCIS M. MCCOY PASSED AWAY YESTERDAY
Served Through the Civil War in Sherman's Army.
Francis M. McCoy passed away at his home in Lebanon yesterday, August 14, 1916, after an extended illness, of diabetes, aged 78 years, 6 months, 29 days. Deseased was born in Pike County, Ill., January 16, 1838, and lived there until he was 17 years of age, when he went to Bates county, Mo. From there he went to Colorado, where he lived six years, then to Oklahoma, where he lived eighteen years, and came to Lebanon from that place in 1912, arriving here May 4th of that year.
He was a veteran of the Civil war, having enlisted when the war opened and served through the war. He was with Sherman's army in its famous march through Georgia, and John A Logan was his corps commander.
He was also a member of the Masonic fraternity, and Lebanon lodge of Masons will have charge of the funeral, which will be held in the Christian Church tomorrow afternoon a 2 o'clock.
He leaves a widow and eight children, as follows: Mrs. Francis Jordy of North Dakota, John McCoy of Missouri, Jesse McCoy of Iowa, Marion McCoy of Oklahoma, Mrs. Clara Carlton of Missouri, Mrs. Cora Cowan of Oklahoma, Mrs. J.R. Carliss of Oklahoma , and H. R. McCoy of Lebanon.
