He was united in marriage to Gail Brennan on November 3, 1979 at the First Congregational Church in Pelican Rapids. In 1984 son Ryan was born followed by daughter Kristin in 1986. Scott and Gail spent all of their married years in Pelican Rapids.
He received his Associates Degree in Criminal Justice at Bemidji State University in 1977. He started working with the Pelican Rapids Police Department on April 1, 1978. He served as a patrol officer, DARE officer, and school liaison officer before being promoted to Chief of Police in November of 2001. Scott retired March 31, 2008 after 30 years in law enforcement. At the time of his passing he was working part time for the Otter Tail County Sheriff's office in court house security.
Scott Fox died unexpectedly at his home in Pelican Rapids, MN on Friday, April 26, 2013.
Scott enjoyed hunting, fishing, and canoeing in the Boundary Waters. He was active in the Boy Scouts for many years. Scott lead by example and he served his community in many different organizations including the Crisis Response Team, board member of Some Place Safe, president of the Library Board, Masons, and Faith Lutheran Church.
He was survived by his wife Gail, two children: Ryan Fox, Edmore, ND, Kristin Fox, Minnetonka, MN; two brothers: Michael (Suzi) Fox, Minnetonka, MN, Brian (Julie) Fox, Foley, MN; several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Memorials are preferred to the Faith Evangelical Lutheran Church Building Fund.
