John William Proctor

John Proctor was born in Pasadena, CA.
During the Great Depression, he worked on the Alaskan Highway, ran a mule train in Bonners Ferry, ID, and served in the Navy during World War II in the Pacific.
John met his future wife, Adele, a Wave in the Navy, at the Naval Post Office in San Francisco. Soon afterwards they were married, and moved to Salt Lake City after the war, where John worked for the Salt Lake Tribune as a linotype operator. Eventually, they moved to Hayward and John took a job with the Hayward Daily Review, where he retired after some 32 years.
In 1951, John and Adele moved to Danville, CA, where they raised their 4 boys (Steve, Gary Ken & Bill).
John's wife Adele, passed away in 1964, at the early age of 42, where John took up the challenge of raising four boys by himself.
John remarried in 1970 to Barbara Mary Henderson, who had 4 children (Gary, Grant, Roger and Debbie). They moved to Woodland, CA and enjoyed 42 years together before her passing last November 7 2012. Together, they traveled throughout the states, visiting most of the National Parks and Historical Sites. After that, they decided to see the rest of the world.
John loved fishing, spent most of his time playing golf for something to do (never rode in a golf cart, probably the reason he reached 98). He also wrote a weekly boxing column under the pen name of Eddie Sparr, for the Hayward Daily Review. He loved boxing and had forty amateur fights himself.
John, on his side of the family, was blessed with four children, ten grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. John was blessed to have Barbara's children in his life as well. Surviving him on the Henderson's side of the family: four children, seven grandchildren ans one great-grandchild.
John was deeply loved by his children and grandchildren and will always be remembered as a kind and loving husband, father and grandfather. Internment 12:00 Sat 8/31 at the Alamo Cemetary.
