Adele Proctor met her husband, John Proctor, when she was a WAVE in the Navy at the Naval Post Office in San Francisco. They married soon after and, after the war, moved to Salt Lake City. Adele and John eventually returned to Hayward when John took a job with the Hayward Daily Review.
