Irma Lucile Werner, 83, of Austin, died Monday, April 4, 2005, at St. Marks Lutheran Home in Austin.
She was born to John and Minnie on April 17, 1921, in Kennan, Wis. Irma was baptized at Zion Lutheran Church in Kennan and confirmed in 1932.
She graduated from Tony High School in 1939 and moved to Addison, Ill. in 1940 to serve as secretary for the Evangelical Lutheran Orphan Home. There she met Vicar Joseph Werner from Concordia Seminary in Springfield, Ill.
They were married on Sept. 20, 1942, in Battle Creek, Neb. Joe and Irma were blessed with four children. At the time of their marriage, Joe had just accepted a call to be pastor of the dual congregations in Decatur, Ill. and Walthill, Neb. Irma served and supported Joe doing the Lord's work at Trinity Lutheran and in the community.
She sang in the choir, taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School and was a member of the Ladies Aid. She was a beloved wife, loving and caring mother, and a special friend to many. After Reverend Werner's retirement, They moved to Austin, Minn. She was a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Austin.
She is survived by daughters: Mary (Arlen), Dorothy (Rev. Mark) , sons: Joseph Jr. ( Patricia) ; David (Elizabeth) , grandchildren: Rachel and Gretchen ; Jeremy (Michelle) ; Jenny (David); Elizabeth (Craig) ; Marc (Greta) ; John (Sarah) ; Jessica and Michael. great grandchildren: Brittney , Abigail ; John and Stephen.
