Carl 'Junior' Riggs
1936-2001
MURRAYVILLE --Carl "Junior" Riggs, 65, of rural Murrayville, died Saturday morning, Nov. 10, 2001, at his residence.
He was born June 24, 1936, in Morgan County, the son of Carl and Pauline Johnson Riggs Sr. He married Wanda Jo Anderson April 16, 1956, in Manchester, and she survives in Murrayville.
He is also survived by three daughters, Debbie (husband, Rodney) Gaines of Murrayville, Karla (husband, Dave) Andrews of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Kim Tighe of Jacksonville; five grandchildren; and one sister, Carolyn Spencer of Roodhouse. He was preceded in death by one brother, Wilburt Riggs; and one sister, Pauline Pate.
Mr. Riggs attended Winchester High School. He was a long time area farmer and licensed plumber. He had recently retired from Metz Plumbing and Heating in Jacksonville. He was a member of the Manchester Baptist Church. He enjoyed restoring antique tractors and was an avid race fan.
Graveside services will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Murrayville City Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 6-8 p.m. at the Mackey-Daws Funeral Home in Roodhouse. Memorials are suggested to the Murrayville-Woodson EMS.
