Music Publisher. Born in Nashville, Tennessee, he was regarded as one of the most influential figures in country music. In 1951, with Lou Cowan he formed the house of Tree Publishing in Nashville. Stapp became a member of the board of the Country Music Association in 1965 and purchased the competitor Pamper Music 1967. He opened several foreign offices in 1969 and soon later Tree Publishing became the unquestioned most important music publishing house of the Country music. After his death, his company Tree Publishing was successfully resumed by general manager Buddy Killen. In 1989, he was posthumously inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame.
