John L. "Johnny" Dabney, 49, of Mexia passed away May 26, 2009 in Waco. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, May 29, 2009 at New Hope Church. Rev. David Snow and Rev. Kenneth Hutchison will officiate with interment to follow in New Hope Cemetery.
Visitation with the family will be 6 - 8 p.m. Thursday at Blair-Stubbs Funeral Home.
Johnny was born to Norris L. and Violet Nell (Foley) Dabney in Fairfield, Texas on January 21, 1960. Johnny was an employee of Cen-Tex Maintenance Department. He served as a reserve police officer in Mexia. Johnny loved to hunt deer, wild hogs and fishing. Johnny enjoyed spending countless hours teaching children to fish. He was a very devoted husband and father.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Johnny is survived by his wife, Ann (Richmond) Dabney of Mexia; sons, John and wife, Cassie Dabney and Jacob Dabney all of Mexia; brothers, Norris Dabney and wife, Dixie, Robin Dabney and wife, Kim, Jerry Dabney and wife Becky, and Wesley Dabney and wife, Rosa all of Mexia; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Bennie Murphy, Gary Isbell, Lewis Isbell, Kelly Isbell, Randy Mitchell and Danny Finley.
