John D. Toney was the son of Sarhita Bird and John Anderson Toney. Grandpa Toney lost his eyesight as the age of 26 yrs. old by being shot in the face by a man. Unsure of the reason, but it happened when he was coming out of his house early in the morning. It happened a year before his marriage so he never saw his wife or children.
