Marie Elizabeth Grosboll, 93, beloved wife of the late Kermit H. Grosboll, died on Saturday, Sept. 4, 2010, at Covenant Place.

She was born in Jud, North Dakota, a daughter of the late William Daniel Tebrugge and Marie Johanna (Becker) Tebrugge. The family moved to Menard County, Ill., when Marie was a young child. Marie spent most of her life in the Petersburg, Ill., area, where she met her husband and raised their three children. She was a 4-H Club Leader for many years and was active in other community organizations. She enjoyed sewing, knitting and crocheting, for which she received awards at county and state exhibitions. Marie and Kermit moved to Winter Haven, Fla., upon their retirement in 1987. In 2007, several years after being widowed, she moved to Sumter to be near family.

Surviving are two daughters, Patricia A. Volkman and her husband, Karl, of Sumter and Sue E. Grosboll of Traer, Iowa; a son, William C. Grosboll of Pasco, Washington; two sisters, Elsie Juhl and her husband, Harold, of Tallula, Ill., and Mildred Allen of Sumter; two brothers, William Tebrugge of Lincoln, Ill., and Lawrence Tebrugge of Springfield, Ill.; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, James Tebrugge and Henry Tebrugge, both of Springfield, Ill.

A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
