He emigrated from Germany at the age of 21 on the Bark "Eberhard" as passenger 53, arriving in the Port of New Orleans on 8 November 1852.
His occupation in Germany was a Cartwright (or maker of carts), but he operated the "Henne Hotel & Saloon" and was postmaster for Ruma, Randolph County, Illinois until his death in 1870.
He married Sophia Caroline Heinemann on 29 February 1856 in Trinity Lutheran Church at Prairie, Randolph County, Illinois
They had 6 children together.
Henry died on 10 February 1870 and interred in St. John Lutheran Church cemetery the next day, according to the church records.
His Tombstone has not been located.
