He married Sophia Caroline Heinemann on 29 February 1856 in Trinity Lutheran Church at Prairie, Randolph County, Illinois
They had 6 children together.
Henry died on 10 February 1870 and interred in St. John Lutheran Church cemetery the next day, according to the church records.
