Asa was a blacksmith as was his father William E. Cowell...Asa owned 2 blacksmith shops in Spencer, NY...One shop was located at 24 East Tioga Street, Spencer, NY (with the building still there in 2022)...The other shop was located in the present day vacant lot across the street from 144 Main St in Spencer...He and wife/children lived on Park Street in Spencer... Asa is the first husband of Florence M. Rose... They were married on Dec 5, 1909 in Spencer, NY.. Together, they had 5 children... Their fifth child Asa Albert was raised by Albert and Harriet Smith... Asa William Cowell died of the Spanish Flu...NOTE: One of the attached photos is of Asa with his sister Vera..Another photo is the inside of the blacksmith shop at 24 E. Tioga St in Spencer, NY...Asa is in the back left side of the photo and his father William E Cowell is in the front left side of the photo...NOTE: the photo of the shop located at 24 E Tioga St which has the name of C L Cook at the top would eventually be one of two blacksmith shops owned by Asa Cowell...The building is still standing in 2022 Cowell...(a picture of the current building is attached to this memorial)
