Lyndon Clone Tennison was the youngest of six children born to Joseph Hardin and Lenora Owensby Tennison. He was born in Nashville, Missouri. He lived in Missouri and briefly in Kansas before moving to Washington in about 1940 where he was to live the remainder of his life.

Lyndon was married three times. His first marriage was to Alene Tregoning with whom he had a son. His second marriage was to Dessie Miller. His third wife was Josephine Rhoda Tremel. They also had a son, Jerry, who preceded Lyndon in death.
