Billy Gene Hooper, age 77, of Lexington, Oklahoma passed away August 15, 2004 at his home with his loving family at his side. Bill was born July 28, 1927 in Midway, Oklahoma. Bill was the only child of Luther and Flora Amanda Wright Hooper. Bill grew up and attended school in Midway and Reydon, Oklahoma graduating from Reydon High School in 1946. He married Vada Butler on December 17, 1949 in Clovis, New Mexico. Bill worked for North Fork Electric COOP as an Electrican for 18 years, Superintendent of the City of Purcell Electrical Dept, Anderson Meat and Provisions in Oklahoma City and North Plains Electrical in Perryton, Texas. Bill was a master of all trades. If it needed fixed or done Bill could do it. Bill was a member of the Reydon Methodist Church for many years. In 1995 Bill and Vada moved to Lexington to be closer to their family. He was a loving, hard working man who loved his family greatly. He had a wonderful sense of humor and enjoyed playing Santa Claus in the winter and dressed up as a clown for Parades during the summer. Bill was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed playing dominos.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Luther and Flora Hooper, and his half brother Kenneth Lee King.
Bill is survived by his wife Vada Hooper of the home, 4 children, Billy Hooper and wife Patty of Purcell, Lenora White and husband Vernon of Lexington, Bobby Lynn Hooper of Slaughterville, and Benny Lee Hooper and wife Lisa of Dwight, Kansas, one step-sister, Betty Louise Tow and husband Duwayne of Del City, 11 grandchildren, and 6 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 18, 2004 at the Wilson-Little Funeral Home Chapel in Purcell with Rev. Daniel Ramey officiating. Pallbearers will be Billy Hooper, Bobby Hooper, Benny Hooper, Bryan Hooper, Beau Hooper and Phillip Lee. Honorary bearers will be Bradley Hooper, Brandon Hooper, Brady Hooper, Shawnda Mitchell, Sarah Fisher and Jessica Hooper. Burial will be at Hillside Cemetery in Purcell. Arrangements by Wilson-Little Funeral Home in Purcell.
