Mr. J. M. Eitel, 76, of Ennis, passed away on Tuesday, April 30, 2013, at the Veterans Hospital in Dallas, Texas. Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, May 4, 2013, in the Old Cedar Cemetery (now Cedar Creek Cemetery), De Kalb, Texas.

J. M. was born in the northeast Texas town of De Kalb, to the late Marvin and Mabel (Wilson) Eitel. He graduated from De Kalb High School and after graduation, served in the U. S. Army from 1954 to 1959. On January 26, 1959, he married Bettie Reeves in El Paso, Texas. They made their home in Lovelady, Texas, before moving to Ennis in 1976. Following his service in the Army, J. M. spent several years as a self-employed diesel mechanic in multiple locations. He loved to fish.

He is preceded in death by a brother, Vick Eitel.

J. M. is survived by his wife, Bettie; daughters, Lorrye Taylor and her husband, John, and Wendye Ellison and her husband, Chuck; sisters, Sally Keeles and her husband, Kenneth, Ophelia Litton, and Mary Lee; grandchildren, Cassidye, Zachary, Abigail and Jeremiah.

He is preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Vick Eitel. Graveside services were held Saturday, May 4, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. in the Old Cedar Cemetery, De Kalb, Texas. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the American Veterans Association.
