Services for Bob "Pappy" Nichols, 88 years old of Greenville, Ms will be Thursday, May 2, 2013 at 3:00 P.M. at Smith Funeral Home. He went to be with the lord on Monday, April 29, 2013. Visitation will be from 1:00 P.M. until service time Thursday, May 2, 2013 at Smith Funeral Home. The burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery.
Pappy was born October 7, 1924 in Delta City, Ms to Halley and Wylie Nichols. He was a lifelong resident of Greenville. He served in the Navy. Pappy was a roofer and later became a fireman. He was in the VFW Club, the Beniot Outing Club, and The American Legion. He owned a softball team called "Pappy's Boys" and nine members of his family were on the team. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He hopes the fish in heaven are bigger than the ones on Earth. In his spare time he worked in his garden. He loved to walk 2 to 5 miles every morning. Most of all he loved spending time with his family. He will be remembered as the man with the big smile. He was preceded in death by his parents and one son, David Nichols.
Pappy is survived by his wife Florine Nichols of Leland, Ms, 4 sons, Bob Nichols Jr. and his wife Dodd of Pelahatchie, Ms, Curtis St. Clair of Wyoming, Johnny St. Clair and his wife Lisa of Greenwood, Ms, and J.P. Nichols of Brandon, Ms, 4 daughters, Patsy Smith and her husband Carl of Brandon, Ms, Cathy Gambrell and her husband Robert of Brandon, Ms, Cheryl Maines and her husband Bob of Brandon, Ms, and Denise Street and her husband Robert of Brandon, Ms, 17 Grandchildren, 28 Great Grandchildren, and 2 Great Great Grandchildren.
Rev. Jody Nichols will officiate the services.
