She met and married James R. "Bob" McKay in 1949. They later divorced. Carol raised her three children and then joined the workforce, working as an administrative assistant with the Community Consortium in Albany for over 10 years. She retired in 1993 but didn't slow down. She was very active in establishing the Albany Regional Museum cataloging system, was a lifelong amateur artist & was active within the local watercolor community. Carol loved the coast and traveling in general, especially to Hawaii. She had a deep love of Australia which began with a trip to Albany's sister city, Albany Australia.
Survivors include daughters Carrie McKay of Albany, and Ann Thomas and her husband John of Sisters; son Mike McKay and his wife Paula of Albany; grandchildren Rachel Hughes, Morgan Wadlow, Leslie Lott, and Justin Thomas; and 3 great grandchildren.
