Philip F. Elliott, 70 years old, of Jesup, Iowa, died on Sunday, April 28, 2013, at ABCM Rehab. Independence-East.

He was born on November 24, 1942, in Evansdale, Iowa, the son of Freeman George and Mary Ann (Ayers) Elliott. He graduated from high school in Jesup, Iowa, with the Class of 1961 and then, attended Wartburg College in Waverly, Iowa, and the University of Northern Iowa in Cedar Falls, Iowa.

Mr. Elliott was an event designer for clients all over the state of Iowa. He was in charge of the Iowa Truckers Convention for several years and he did the decorations for the Governor's Ball in Des Moines, Iowa, during the Iowa Sesquicentennial Celebration in 1996. He was on the Board of Directors for the Sturgis Falls Celebration in Cedar Falls, Iowa, and was one of the originators of Arts in the Park in Jesup, Iowa. He also designed and hosted fund raisers for many other organizations. Mr. Elliott was known as a willing promoter of any type of event for the arts or arts education and any event was sure to involve many of his circle of friends whom he considered a priority in his life.

Mr. Elliott is survived by 1 sister, Colleen Campbell of Oelwein, Iowa, 1 niece, Buffy Campbell of Jesup, Iowa, 1 nephew, Mark Campbell of Independence, Iowa, and the 2 daughters of his life partner, Sarah Klemuk of Iowa City, Iowa, and Susan Higdon of Wilmore, Kentucky.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his life partner, Tom Klemuk. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 1, 2013, at Greenwood Cemetery in Cedar Falls, Iowa, with Rev. Vicki Reece officiating.
