Major League Baseball Player. He was signed by the Philadelphia Athletics and made his big league debut with them on April 12, 1932 when he was 22 years old. He then pitched for the New York Yankees in 1934 and 1935 winning 10 games while losing 8. He had his best year in 1936 after being traded to the Washington Senators finishing that year with 18 wins and 10 losses and then finished the 1937 season with a 14-15 record. He won just 5 of 16 decisions in 1938 and 1939 finishing his major league career with a record of 47 wins and 44 losses. He was inducted into the Pennsylvania Sports Hall of Fame in 1982.
