Lula Beatrice Young, 93, of Temple, died Tuesday, April 30, 2013, in a Temple living center. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m., Thursday, May 2, at Scanio-Harper Funeral Home. Burial will be at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio.

Lula was born in Plaquemine, Louisiana, to the late James Bennett Taylor and Martha Lula Saums Taylor. She married George Aaron Young in 1946. Lula received a Bachelor's Degree from Louisiana State University and a Master's Degree in Mathematics from Texas Women's University. She taught school at Richardson High School. Lula moved from San Antonio to Temple in 2003. She was a Methodist.

She was preceded in death by her husband in 2009.

Survivors include son, Kenneth Young, of Garland; daughter, Karen Young, of Temple; grandchildren Cheryl LaBombard, of achse, and Cyndi Judd, of San Antonio; great-grandchildren, Sara Young, of Sachse, and Zach Young, of Sachse.
