In 1940, Mildred McKenzie, aged 30, born in England, was living at 615 East Main Street, Brookhaven, NY, in the home of Grace Avery, aged 80, Humphrey Avery, aged 45, and Maydee Wall, aged 48. Mildred was shown to be a nurse.
Marriage - Avery - MacKenzie- Miss Mildred Mackenzie and Humphrey R. Avery, both of Patchogue, were quietly married by the Rev. Gerald E. Boyce at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday of last week in the Congregational Church, Patchogue.
They left for a short trip and are now residing at 615 East Main Street, Patchogue.
Mrs. Avery was born in India and has lived in Patchogue for several years. Her father, Charles Mackenzie was commissioner of the Salvation Army in India. He is now retired and lives in Philadelphia.
Mr. Avery is the son of Mrs. Charles Avery and the late Mr. Avery. He is a past master of South Side Lodge, F. & A. M., and a member of Kismet Temple of Brooklyn. Mr. Avery is manager of Swan River Nursery.
