For 27 years Mary Lou had worked as a toll collector for the Kansas Turnpike Authority, retiring in 1994. She was a member of the Daughters of Isabella, St. Patrick's Catholic Church and its Altar Society. Mary Lou loved gardening, reading, traveling and spending time with her family. She was a breath of fresh air and made the world a brighter place.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 35 years, Bernardo M. Ayala; her grandson, Jeffrey Paul Andrews; her parents, and nine brothers and sisters. Mary Lou was survived by her sister, Geraldine Ochoa; her daughter Carmelita "Jody" Ayala and her husband; her son Steven and his three daughters; her daughter Rita, her husband and their three sons; her daughter Anita, her husband and three children; her daughter Christine May, her husband and two children, and eleven great-grandchildren.
