Wanda Ruth Brandon Sampson went to be with the Lord on April 25, 2013

Wanda was born in Greenville, Texas on June 22, 1924 to Wilhite Nathan and Zelpha Jane Copeland Brandon. She was the youngest of nine children.

She grew up at Park Street Baptist church and often sang with her twin brother Wayne. They also sang in a Stamps-Baxter quartet on the local radio station. In 1941 she married the Reverend Clyde Sampson, whom she met during a revival meeting. They were married for 3 years when he passed away suddenly in January of 1944. They attended Hickory Creek Baptist church during that time. They were blessed with two children, Barbara Jean Sampson Bryant, now of Garland, and Herschel Wayne Sampson of Temple.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, her six sisters Thresa Westmoreland of Baytown, Veda Whatley of Dangerfield, Hazel Martin of Greenville, Mayme Baker of Bryan, Ela May Brandon of Greenville and Willie Fae Wren of Galveston and two brothers Edric (Buster) Brandon of Garland and her twin brother Wayne Brandon of Dallas. Wanda is survived by her two children, five grandchildren Daniel and Stephen Bryant of Garland, Renee Bryant of Kentucky, Susan Kersbergen of Los Colinas and Nathan Sampson of San Diego, her six great-grandchildren and one sister-in-law Carol Sampson of Greenville.

A graveside service is scheduled for 3:00 PM Sunday at East Mount Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 1:30 PM Sunday until service time at Coker-Mathews Funeral Home Chapel.
