On Friday, April 9, the funeral of Waldoboro's oldest resident, Mrs. Martha Winchenbaugh, was held at her late home on Dutch Neck, Rev. A.E. Hoyt of Thomaston having charge of the service assisted by Rev. E.S. MacMahan of Bremen, Mrs. Winchenbaugh had but recently passed her ninety-fifth birthday, and is survived by four sons, Jason A. of Worcester, Mass., John F. and Harvey L. both of Somerville, Mass., and Jacob G. with whom she made her home and from whose wife, Mrs. Celestia Winchenbaugh a daughter's tender and loving care has been received. One daughter, Mrs. Mary E. Creamer lives in Gardiner. There are also ten grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. Mrs. Winchenbaugh accepted Christ when a young girl and joined the Waldoboro Baptist Church, always retaining her membership and while health and strength remained she maintained a vital interest in all that pertained to christian work and fellowship. Aunt Martha was laid to rest in the Dutch Neck Cemetery where many of her kindred neighbors and friends have gone before.
