Wilber Jabez Broadhead passed away peacefully May 22, 2000 in the Tooele Valley Regional Medical Center. He was born May 10, 1922 in Pocatello, Idaho, the fourth son of Horace Broadhead and Irma Josephine Hatch Broadhead. He was raised in Southern Utah and considered Panguitch his hometown.
Wilber served in the Civilian Conservation Corps during the Great Depression where he constructed many trails and roadways throughout the beautiful Bryce and Zion Canyons he loved. He married Hazel Donna Johansen April 17, 1942 in Acequia, Idaho and their marriage was later solemnized in the Manti Temple. They raised a family of six children in Lake Point and he retired from the Kennecott Smelter after 30 years of dedicated service.
His wife, daughter Lorraine, parents and brothers, Roy, Bill, Eric, Leo and Lige and sisters, Edith and Gertrude, preceded him in death.
He is survived by brothers Dell and Tom, Salt Lake City; and daughters, Donna (Lowell) Davis of Tooele; Janet (John) Jensen of Magna; Elaine (Moffis) Reed of Elko, Nevada; Mae (Jerry) Price of Lake Point; and son Wilber (Cheryl) Broadhead of West Valley City, Utah. Also by 18 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at the Tate Mortuary in Tooele Friday at 2 p.m. with a viewing one hour prior to the service. He will be buried alongside his wife in the Lake Point Cemetery.
