Mark "Bubba" Wesley Cannon, age 53, of Luray, MO, passed away peacefully Friday, April 26, 2013 in the Lewis Co. Nursing Home in Canton, MO, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Mark was born March 3, 1960 in Keokuk, IA, a son of Kenneth H. and Ella Mae Thompson Cannon and was very proud to grow up in Alexandria, MO.

He attended Alexandria, MO Elementary and graduated in 1978 from Clark Co. R-1 High School. He went to college at Southeast Iowa Community College and Crowder Junior College at Neosho, MO where he played baseball and was a Golden Gloves Boxer.

Mark was most recently employed by Charles Industries in Canton, MO, but was well-known in Kahoka for working at J & J Stop ‘n' Go for many years.

Mark was of the Presbyterian faith and had accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior.

He was an avid hunter and fisherman. One of the joys of his life was to go fishing with friends at the Des Moines River. Mark was a professional fisherman with a record catch of a 75 lb. Catfish, but reported bigger ones that got away. With the encouragement of a friend, he became quite the collector of day lilies.

Mark could always be counted on for a quick joke or a helping hand. He loved spending time with his family, rooting for the Green Bay Packers or chasing his nieces and nephews with his latest "kill" or "catch of the day".

He was loved and adored by his family, who will always remember his kindness and courage.

Mark is survived by his mother, Ella Mae Cannon of Ashton, MO; his sisters, Karen (Mrs. Randy) Smith and Brenda (Mrs. Roy) Brown , both of Kahoka, MO; his brother, Kirby (Lisa) Cannon of Clarksville, TN; special friend, Diane Shuck of Canton, MO; nieces and nephews: Kelsey Smith Lesinski of St. Charles, MO, Lindsey (Mrs. Tyler) Smith Roach of Morrisville, NC, Gabe (Jaime) Cooper of Fairfield, IA, Karessa (Mrs. Patrick) Cooper Keyser of Hannibal, MO, Joshua Ledbetter of Shepherd, MI, Jason (Bambi) Brown, Justin Brown, Heather Brown and fiancé, Chauncey Wilson, and Michelle (Mrs. David) Hess, all of Kahoka, MO; nine nieces and nephews: Aiden Lesinski, Cash Cooper, Pierce and Grace Keyser, Jade Pearsall, Brennan Fuller, Brytin Brown, Drenda, Dereck, Delana and Drake Hess, Karah, Klayden and Kacen Brown, and Luke and Macie Brown; aunts and uncles: Ruby Hallinan, Rose (Mrs. Robert) Boley, Joanne Humes, Charlotte Fox, Barb and Russell Steele, Keith and Joan Cannon, Rodney and Arlene Cannon, and Edwin and Delores Cannon; along with cherished cousins, and many friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Kenneth H. Cannon; his paternal grandparents, Wesley and Berniece Golden Crum Cannon; maternal grandparents, Arthur Thompson and Verna Humes; uncles: David "Bud" Fox, Leo Hallinan, Robert Cannon and Guy Cannon; cousins, Jeffrey Steele, and Joseph and Isaac Jones; and great-nephew, John Patrick Keyser.

"No man is a failure who has friends." (from "It's a Wonderful Life").
