Ella Mae Farmer died Thursday afternoon, Aug. 21, 2008, at her home after an illness. Born May 10, 1929, in Sumter, she was a daughter of the late Bozier and Viola Walters Farmer.

At an early age, Ella Mae accepted Christ and became a member of New Bethel Missionary Baptist Church. She was a member of Missionary Circle No. 3.

She leaves to cherish her memory, a sister, Emma (Sanford) Wright; two brothers, Jeroman "Jeff" Bozier (Wilhelmenia) Farmer and Isaac Farmer, all of Sumter; four special caregivers, Pauline, Ronnie and Tiffany June of the home and Dianne Farmer of Sumter; two brothers-in-law, George Silas of Sumter and Enoch Amos of Columbia; a special nephew, DeQuandre; a niece, Charlisa June of Sumter; a special nurse, Linda G. Galishaw, who is a niece; and a host of other nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, great-grandnieces, great-grandnephews, cousins, other relatives and friends who are deeply grieved by her passing.

She was preceded in death by four brothers, Jimmy, Malachi and Ezekiel Farmer and Henry Gipson; four sisters, Minnie Ruth Butler, Mattie Lee Banks, Annie Amos and Ellaree Silas; and three sisters-in-law, Cora Lee Farmer, Ophelia Farmer and Vera Gipson.
