Mr. Carl "Monty" Sylvester Montgomery, 86, died Monday, April 8, 2013.
Mr. Montgomery was born in West Plains Missouri, a son of the late Herbert and Irene Fike Montgomery. He had been a resident of Aiken since 1952, and a member of St. John's United Methodist Church for 53 years. He served his country in the Army during WWII. After moving to Aiken he worked as a crane operator for EI DuPont, SRP. Mr. Montgomery was a member of the Fellowship Sunday School at St. John's United Methodist, a member of the Men's Club, Men's Prayer Group, and Salkehatchie Summer Service Camp. He also ministered to people who were in hospitals, nursing homes and at home. He was dedicated to serving people. Monty was an avid golfer, and an ACTS volunteer. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather.
Survivors include his beloved wife, Emmie DeVane Montgomery; a son Carl Alan (Laura) Montgomery, San Francisco, CA; a Grandchild, Beckett Montgomery, and a sister Mabel Judd, West Plains, MO.
