Alvin Theodore Johnsen, fifth son
of Jens Peter Johnsen and Ingeborg
Marie Jeppesen, was born in
Newell, Iowa, November 15, 1906
and passed away March 4, 1979 at
St. Joseph's Hospital, Sioux City.
He attended Prairie Creek country
school and Newell elementary,
but due to his handicap of being
quite deaf, he chose to farm with
his parents. After his father's death
in 1944, he took over the farm
operation and his mother continued
to make her home with him until
her death in 1956.
He was a life long member of
Nam Lutheran Church and very
willing to lend a hand when any
repair or maintenance was needed
on the church property
Alvin took an interest in his farm
vocation in caring for his livestock
and things that had to do with
nature.
